Story Cubes

A creative game which just once rule. Story-cubes is the perfect language's tool. It is easy, nine dices with iconic images to spark the imagination. The aim of the game will be telling a story with the dices that you have in your turn.

This game is one of my favorites because you could create all the activities that you like. There are three story cubes, the original game (orange), the actions expansion (blue) and the new expansion "voyages" (green).

This game is the perfect tool to teach or to learn a foreign language. I am going to share with you some of my adaptations:

- We may use the game to create guided stories, for example if we are studying Egypt history, we can tell a story about the pyramids, or we could tell a story with the bee and the turtle for sciences.

- In the case of a student with dyslalia, we can work those images that show the phoneme to work.

- Pronunciation problems can be working with story cubes, for example if we want to work the pronunciation of "t", we can create a story where we have to enter the tower, the torch, turtle, etc..

- It would be use as a game where we can express feelings.

New Story Cubes!
- Cooperative story, each student adds a phrase choosing a picture from one of the dices that we have on the table.

-
We are talking all the time about oral language, but all these activities can also work with written language.

Well, these are some of my suggestions, let us know yours!

Board games as educational and therapeutic tool

Nowadays, we have to improve our knowledges everyday, the information technology are a great and faster tool, but we should use all the materials as we can. I choose boards games as my special tool. For this reason I have created "Thought the Board Games".

The aim of this blog is to share board games. In my experience as teacher, speech therapist and coordinator, I have learn that board games are an amazing tool. You can use the games to improve skills, work speech and curriculum areas, train the mind with older people, learn and improve a language, etc.

This blog is an open place to interchange experiences with games. Although we should not forget that games are thinking to have fun as well.
